Daniel ‘Butch’ Stetz, 79, of Fullerton, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 2, 2024, at his home in Fullerton.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fullerton with Reverend William L’Heureux officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Fullerton with military honors by Fullerton American Legion Post #151. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. vigil service Tuesday, March 5 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Palmer-Santin Funeral Home is serving the family.

Butch was born Feb. 19, 1945 to Albin and Cecelia (Bosak) Stetz at Barnesville, Minn. In 1950, his dad purchased the service station north of Fullerton. Butch attended District #18 in Nance County and Fullerton Public School. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1962 and was honorably discharged in 1966.  He was united in marriage to Sue Gilson at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Nov. 25, 1967 in Fullerton. They made their first home in Omaha and then moved to Columbus, where he was employed at Behlin Manufacturing for three years. He then moved back to Fullerton to take over the service station after his dad’s health declined. He sold the business in 1978 and worked for Fitzgerald Motors and Furby Tree Service. He was also employed at Atlantic Homes in Central City for 15 years and Strobel Manufacturing delivering equipment out of Clarks. After retiring, he enjoyed scrapping iron until he sold the lot in 2020.

He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Fullerton Fire Department for 20 years along with the Rescue Squad, and a lifetime member of American Legion. He enjoyed collecting license plates and Earnhardt racing memorabilia, scrapp ing iron with his buddy, Bob Sorensen, and going to auctions. He loved hunting with the Zaruba’s and Sullivan’s and fishing. He most of all enjoyed spending time in his man cave, where friends would come for conversations, reminiscing, and maybe a beer or two. He loved his beloved pets, most recently being his cat, Fluffy.

He is survived by his wife, Sue of Fullerton; daughters, Terri Lynn (Jerry) Bryce of Malcolm and Christina Lynn (John) Sullivan of Fullerton; eight grandchildren, Markie (Corey Serrano) Bryce, Brittnie (Kyle Ridder) Bryce, Dylan (fiancée, Mandy Stabler) Bryce, triplets-McKay (Taylor Hasse), Logan, and Jaci Bryce, Jaxson Sullivan, and Sami Sullivan; great-grandchildren, Paisley, Gemma, Cecelia, and Baylor Bryce; sister, Joyce (Lyle) Newquist of Fullerton; brothers-in-law, Wayne (Sue) Gilson of Schuyler, Terry (Cathy) Gilson of Waterloo, and Scott (Susan) Zaruba of Norfolk; sister-in-law, Jacque (Scott) Crabtree of Leavenworth, Kan.; mother-in-law, Rose Zaruba of Fullerton; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Adam Stetz; and brothers-in-law, Steven and Chuck Gilson and Larry Mason.

Memorials are suggested to Nance County Veterans Memorial and Fullerton Fire Department.
