Suzanne Elizabeth Macke, 86, of Fullerton, said yes to eternal life on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Litzenberg Memorial Long Term Care in Central City.  

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2024 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fullerton with Reverend William L’Heureux officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Fullerton. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. vigil service Sunday, March 10th at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fullerton. Palmer-Santin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Sue was born Jan. 3, 1938 to Antone and Frances (Berberich) Zwiener on the family farm near Spalding. She graduated from Spalding Academy in Spalding. After graduation, she taught at a country school near Spalding. While teaching, she met her husband, Mac Macke. They were united in marriage on Aug. 13, 1960. They made their home in Spalding until 1967, when they moved to Fullerton. Throughout the years, Sue had multiple jobs while living in Fullerton.

Sue was known for her massive, beautiful garden full of flowers, vegetables, and fruit trees. She loved spending time with her family and spent many hours playing board games with her grandchildren.  

She is survived by her children, Andy Macke of Newcastle, Wyo., and Pam Deaver of Central City; four grandchildren, Kaitlin Macke, Amanda (Tyler) Babb, Brooklin (Marty) Shaff, and Jerrod (Molly) Deaver; one great-grandchild, Amelia Babb; sisters, Angela Scott of Grand Island and Annette Murphy of Spalding; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Mac Macke; daughter, Kathy Fetrow; her parents, Anton and Frances; daughter-in-law, Gidget Macke; and many siblings.
