Finding your ‘Sweet Balance’

Whether you are living with diabetes, working to prevent it or simply interested in making healthier choices, Boone County Health Center invites you to join us for Sweet Balance: Diabetes Prevention & Management Event on Tuesday, November 3, from 4–6 p.m. at the Cardinal Inn. The event is open-house style, so stop by anytime.

This year’s event is bigger, with more than 20 booths and several new and different vendors. Attendees can explore everything from continuous glucose monitors and diabetic supplies to healthy eating, medication guidance and other resources. We’ll also have appetizers, complimentary blood pressure and blood sugar checks, plus wine tasting at no cost.

A highlight of the evening will be Lorie Lewis, co-founder of DEAR Diabetes, sharing “Finding Balance” at 5 p.m. Diabetes has impacted four generations of Lorie’s family. With more than 30 years of firsthand experience, she brings a powerful message of education, support and hope while sharing ways to live well with diabetes and prevent complications.

BCHC’s Dr. Tony Kusek will also discuss “Advances in Diabetes Care” at 4:30 p.m., and Kayla Baker, LIMHP, LPC, LADC, will present “Managing the Mental Load” at 5:30 p.m.

Our Diabetes Education and Management team is here to help patients manage, understand and monitor diabetes and, most importantly, know they are not alone. We’re also excited to make a special announcement that evening about an expansion of our program and how we’ll be able to provide even more support.

You don’t have to have diabetes to attend. Bring a friend, ask questions, learn something new and discover practical ways to find your own “sweet balance.”
