Breast Cancer Awareness Month is right around the corner and at Boone County Health Center, we’re kicking it off with an evening that combines important breast health information with a little fun!
Join us Monday, October 5, from 4:30–6:00 p.m. in the BCHC Kvam Room for “Get the Tea on Breast Cancer.”
We’ll have a variety of hot, iced and loaded teas to sample, along with macarons and other sweet treats. Sal’s Boutique will also be on-site, so you can enjoy a little shopping while you’re here.
The highlight of the evening will be our special guest, Dr.
Kinzie Norris, a board-certified breast surgical oncologist. Her presentation begins at 5 p.m.
Dr. Norris will talk about breast cancer prevention, early detection, current screening recommendations and some of the alternative screening methods you may have heard about.
Most importantly, this is your chance to ask questions.
There is so much information out there about mammograms and breast cancer screening, and it can be difficult to know what is accurate. Dr. Norris will help separate fact from fiction in a relaxed, comfortable setting where no question is a bad question.
Our BCHC Radiology staff will also be available throughout the evening to answer questions and provide tours of our imaging area. We’d love to show you where your mammogram takes place and help make the experience feel a little less intimidating.
The event is free and open to women of all ages, and there’s no need to register. Plus, every guest will be entered to win one of ten spill-proof 40 oz. tumblers!
Come sip some tea, enjoy a macaron, shop, learn and get your breast health questions answered. We hope to see you there!
