Club News: Delta Kappa Gamma

Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International met September 19, 2024, for the first meeting of the 2024-2026 biennium, at Central City Public Library, Central City, Nebraska. Activities began at 1:15 p.m. with the day’s program.

Fall has officially arrived!Farmers in southeast Nebraska are hard at work harvesting corn and soybeans. Treetops are beginning to show tinges of gold. Sumac shrubs are adding autumn cheer to roadsides as their leaves turn countless shades of red.

Tree wounds

With an increase in storm damage to trees this year, wounds are more common. When a tree has an open wound or is pruned, I’m asked what needs to be done to the wound or cavity and the answer is usually nothing. This is true even if the wood within the wound is moist, dark and soft.
