Calico Annie’s final day Dec. 14Anne Wemhoff announced on Tuesday that Calico Annie’s final day open will be Dec. 14. She announced last month at she was retiring.

Grace Notes

This year my Christmas cactus plants began to bloom before Halloween. As I write this—just a few days past Thanksgiving Day—it looks like all but one of the plants are about to present me the last of their blossoms, at least for the time being. So much for them being “Christmas” cacti.

Season end garden tasks

Leftover seed laying around, tools yet to be cleaned, and fertilizer and pesticides in need of safe storage. Our warm fall may have delayed some end of season garden tasks that are best not overlooked.

Conley Pure Pride 3032 won senior heifer calf champion--division 1 at the 2024 American Royal Super Point Roll of Victory (ROV) Angus Show, Oct. 26 in Kansas City, Mo. Briggs Crouse, Belgrade, Neb., owns the winning heifer.
