Loup Power delivers lease payments to area communities

COLUMBUS — Loup Power District recently delivered lease payments totaling more than $1.3 million to area communities. Each of these communities owns their electric distribution systems. These payments compensate them for the use of those systems for the second quarter of 2024.

Scott Gottsch retires from Loup Power District

COLUMBUS — Scott Gottsch has retired from Loup Power District after 26 years of service.Gottsch joined Loup in 1998 as a Maintenance Man at the Genoa Headworks. In 2000, he was promoted to Carpenter/Utilityman on the Canal Crew based out of the Columbus Service Center.

A son, Bowen Dean Bertram, was born at 10:47 p.m. on Thursday, June 13 at Boone County Health Center to Brittany and Nicholas Bertram of Fullerton. At birth he weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces and was 20 inches long. He is joined at home by Reid and Brecken Bertram.

Aphids feeding on variety of plants

Aphids are small insects who feed on plant sap from leaf undersides. They are about oneeighth inch long, pear-shaped, soft bodied, and green, yellow, orange or gray. Although a common insect, there has been an increase in aphid calls this year, especially on cucumbers.
