FULLERTON — There was a flurry of activity ahead of the filing deadline for the May 12 primary.
Gary G. Juracek filed to run for Nance County Supervisor. Juracek, who previously held a seat on the board of supervisors, joins a field that features incumbents Timothy C. Cornwell, Steve Crouse, Darren Nelson and Bob Voichoskie. The five men are competing as Republicans for the four seats.
Kevin Dubas Sr. and Matt Milby seek a seat on the Fullerton City Council. Liz Olson filed to run for Genoa City Council. Amber S. Miller and Zach Czarnick each filed to run for Twin River Board of Education.
Dubas Sr. and Milby join a field that features incumbents Riley Lane,Art Mach and Mark Monroe. The five men are competing for three seats on the Fullerton City Council.
Miller and Czarnick join a field that features Michael Jacobi and incumbent John D. Nelson. The four candidates are competing for three seats on the Twin River Board of Education.
Olson and incumbent Dwain A. Seier are running for the two seats on the Genoa City Council.
Incumbents Angie J. Herman, Beth Sonderup and Jennifer Wood are all seeking re-election to the Fullerton Board of Education. Three seats are up this election.
Nance County Sheriff Ben Bakewell, Nance County Clerk Adrian Chlopek, Nance County Attorney Rodney Wetovick, Nance County Assessor Megan Zoucha, Nance County Treasurer Ronda Malander, Fullerton Mayor KC Rieken, Genoa Mayor Josh Elm are all running unopposed.
No candidates filed for the two Genoa Airport Authority seats.
The supervisor race is the only contested local race that will appear on the Republican primary ballot. All other races will autoadvance to the general election November. While the Fullerton City Council and Twin River Board of Education races will be contested in November, as non-partisan races it would have taken seven candidates running to appear on the primary ballot (one more than double the number of open seats).
There will also be federal and state races on the primary ballot.
