Check your mailbox. A pink postcard could be on its way.
Notice of the joint public hearing on proposed property tax increases will publish in next week’s edition of the Nance County Journal. It has already been posted to social media.
The meeting will be held Sept. 23 at 6:05 p.m. at the Nance County Courthouse.
Two political subdivisions within the county will be at the meeting. Fullerton Public Schools is requesting $5,339,124 in property taxes. The City of Genoa is requesting $352,715.15 in property taxes.
Both groups will make presentations at the meeting. There is no item on the agenda for this joint public meeting other than the presentations and public input. There will not be a question-and-answer session. Everyone in attendance will be required to sign in and state if they would like to speak.
Nance County Clerk Adrian Chlopek said that the pink postcards are scheduled to go in the mail this week. She said it could take 10-12 days to arrive in mailboxes. She added that postcards are going out in 93 counties.
