On Sunday, April 26, Mt Calvary Lutheran Church will be presenting its 6th annual steak dinner featuring a complete assortment of accompaniments to the community.
The Nance County Event Center, located at the fairgrounds, will host the event. A “Split the Pot” fundraising event will be held in support of the Nance County Veterans Museum.
The conclusion of the Covid epidemic, during which individuals were required to stay indoors, prompted a renewed emphasis on fostering social interaction. In response, an initiative was developed to encourage community engagement. In smaller communities with limited dining options, food serves as an effective catalyst for bringing people together. The positive reception of the initial dinner encouraged members of Mt Calvary to establish the event as an annual tradition.
Guests attending the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Steak Dinner will be treated to a hearty meal that showcases the culinary expertise of the congregation. The centerpiece of the meal is a juicy grilled steak with a smoky aroma, carefully prepared to perfection. Accompanying the steak are seasoned potatoes, offering a flavorful complement to the main course. The menu also includes a calico baked bean dish, known for its rich blend of tastes, as well as creamy mac and cheese that adds a comforting touch. To round out the meal, guests will enjoy fresh cole slaw and a soft dinner roll. An assortment of desserts provides a sweet finish to the evening, with each selection crafted by members of Mt. Calvary, whose cooking talents are highlighted throughout the event. The variety and quality of dishes served reflect the dedication and skill of the community, making the dinner a memorable experience for all attendees.
Tickets for the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Steak Dinner can be purchased directly from members of Mt. Calvary or at Reimers Pharmacy. To receive a meal at the event or to obtain a carry-out meal, guests must present their tickets upon arrival. For families attending with children, a special meal ticket is available to accommodate younger guests.
