Vallie View receives 'You Make A Difference Award'

Valley View Assisted Living in Fullerton has provided tours, informational interviews, work-based learning experiences, and on-the-job training. Administrator Shelli Horacek (left) received the You Make A Difference Award from Nebraska VR Employment Specialist Hannah Miller during October’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month! Valley View has always been a partner and advocate for those with barriers to employment. Valley View not only partners with Nebraska VR but also Fullerton High School, to provide any and all work-related activities we could think of. With Nebraska VR specifically, Valley View has provided tours, informational interviews, WBLE’s and OJE’s and OJT. Valley View has been a reliable and trustworthy partner while Nebraska VR was providing employment follow up, wanting to be aware and provide accommodations, while also providing a genuine work experience to our clients. Valley View has allowed Nebraska VR to assist with employee success, including partnering with a job coach and allowing VR staff to meet with managers and staff to provide disability awareness, to help them better understand employee behaviors and tools for success. Valley View leaves a positive impact on the disability community through their sincere desire to give all individuals an equal shot at meaningful work. Shelli and her staff provide care and at equal measure provide realistic goals and tasks for each volunteer and staff who walk through the door. We feel so lucky to have them in the community we serve.
