ALBION — Boone County Health Center (BCHC) is excited to welcome Zachary Reicks, DPT, as the newest physical therapist on its growing Therapy team.
A Petersburg native, Reicks earned his Bachelor of Science in Nutrition, Exercise and Health Science from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln before completing his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Briar Cliff University.
Reicks’ connection to BCHC Therapy began in high school, when he job shadowed at BCHC and saw firsthand how physical therapists help patients improve mobility and regain confidence in the activities they enjoy. The experience inspired him to pursue a career in physical therapy.
“I always wanted to come back home and give back to the community that helped shape me,” Reicks said. “I’m excited to help patients regain their independence and get back to what they love, whether that’s work, sports, a favorite activity or simply moving with less pain.”
Reicks enjoys treating a variety of patients and conditions, with interests in orthopedic injuries, postsurgical rehabilitation and sports injuries. He especially enjoys the challenge of helping athletes recover and return to performing at their best. He also values working in both inpatient and outpatient settings, where each patient brings different goals and opportunities to make a meaningful difference.
Reicks’ addition to BCHC’s growing Therapy team comes at a fitting time, with October recognized as National Physical Therapy Month. The month highlights the important role physical therapists play in helping patients improve movement, manage pain, recover from injury or surgery and maintain their independence.
Outside of work, Reicks enjoys spending time with family and friends, walking, running, being outdoors and staying active.
If you think you could benefit from physical therapy, contact the BCHC Therapy Department or talk with your primary care provider to learn if physical therapy may be right for you.
