Ninety-year-old Dale Quick, a longtime farmer near Hordville became Nebraska’s latestAdmiral in the Nebraska Navy! Dale Quick attended country school before graduating from Hordville High School in 1952.
Eighteen months later Dale volunteered for the U.S. Army. Quick was shipped overseas first to Okinawa Japan at Kadena Air Force Base; then to Korea at Daegu Air Force Base. Quick then returned to Okinawa, Japan before returning stateside, finishing his time at Fort Crowder, MO. Dale Quick served our nation two years before returning home to the family farm.
In 1957 Dale found the love of his life and married Sharilyn Watson. Together they raised five children on their Hordville farm, where Dale still lives today. As a family they raised corn, wheat, milo, alfalfa, and soybeans. They milked cows on their farm and raised a hundred hogs from farrow to finish. Additionally, Dale raised 40 head of cattle in a cow/ calf operation.
In the 1970s Dale served the local school district on the Hordville School Board.
Today at age 90 Dale Quick still has a 30 head cow/calf herd.
Dale Quick exemplifies Nebraska values: honesty, dedication to family, discipline, and perseverance—qualities required for farming, raising five successful children and maintaining a positive, “can do” attitude that uplifts his neighborhood and our state.
Governor Jim Pillen asked State Senator Loren Lippincott to present Dale Quick with an Admiralship in the Nebraska Navy recognizing his outstanding character that makes Nebraska the good life.
