COLUMBUS — Columbus Area United Way is closer to their campaign goal thanks to the local Pacesetter companies and their commitment to our local community. At the general campaign kickoff on September 11th, it was revealed that the Pacesetter companies that help “set the pace” for the community campaign set a high bar and raised 57% of the total campaign goal. These companies are BD Medical, Behlen Manufacturing Co., Camaco, Cargill, Columbus Bank and Trust, Columbus Community Hospital, Columbus Public Schools, First National Bank of Omaha, Flexcon, Great Plains State Bank, Nebraska Public Power District, Pillen Family Farms/DNA Genetics, Pinnacle Bank, Valmont and Vishay. Drive Chair Ahren Uhlig said, “The local Pacesetter companies are important to the campaign as they provide the spark that jumpstarts the rest of the campaign. We appreciate the hard work that these companies have done to set our campaign up for success.”
Many of the Pacesetter companies had an increase in donations this year including Columbus Community Hospital who showed an increase of 54% from 2024. Michael T. Hansen, FACHE, President/CEO of Columbus Community Hospital stated, “For many years, Columbus Community Hospital has proudly served as a Pacesetter company for Columbus Area United Way, because their mission to improve lives and build stronger communities closely aligns with our own. Our employees graciously give year after year to this meaningful cause – a reflection of their deep commitment to care, compassion, and making a difference both within our hospital and throughout the community.”
Now it is time to focus on the general campaign and raising the rest of the goal to fill the community needs of $1.3 million. There are currently 150 community volunteers reaching out to area businesses, industries, community members, and organizations to join the campaign and impact their community. These volunteers come from many different businesses and areas to join together to make a difference. These funds are used to support nineteen partner agencies and thirty programs in the areas of youth opportunity, healthy community, and financial security. The 2025 campaign ends on December 31st, 2025. Uhlig states, “Your donation is vital in supporting the amazing organizations and programs in our community that all have the same goal, to help others be successful and feel supported. 98% of every dollar you donate to Columbus Area United Way stays local and helps continue the mission of helping others do their best and be their best.”
