The Fullerton 4th Grade basketball team traveled to Greeley on January 17th to play two league games at Central Valley. The young Warriors were hit by the flu bug all week, having several players miss school and practice with illness. However, all six squad members assembled for the game at Central Valley. In the first game, Fullerton played the Central Valley third grade team. Led by Cal Hamik’s twelve points, Fullerton put the young Cougars away, 31-11. Turner Tarnick provided eight points in the paint. Connor Robb and Kian Pickrel added six and four points apiece. Sawyer Russell finished out the scoring with the young Warriors only made free throw.
Fullerton had no time to rest, as they took on the Central Valley 4th grade immediately after the first game. Central Valley jumped on the young Warriors 3- and led 5-4 at half. After taking a 7-6 second half lead the Cougar squad was looking to knock off the Warriors. However, Fullerton answers with a sixteen to zero run to put the contest away, and win 22-7. Kian Pickrel established himself inside the lane, as he muscled in a game high 10 point. Cal Hamik and Connor Robb, each added 4 points. Turner Tarnick and Sawyer Russell finished out the scoring with two points apiece, along with Wyatt Sonderup.All the young Warriors rebounded and defended well. Fullerton put up triple the amount of shots to the young Cougars, but just could not get a shot to fall consistently, until the last eight minutes. However, on tired legs and ill bodies, Fullerton worked hard to improve to 6-1 on the season.
