Edwin J. Maslonka

Edwin J. Maslonka, 81, of Grand Island passed away at his home in Grand Island on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2026.  Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. Peters Catholic Cemetery in Fullerton with Deacon Don Placke officiating.  The family requests everyone to dress in casual attire.

Ed was born Aug. 17, 1945, to Joe and Monica Maslonka.  Ed was the youngest of the family, having two older sisters, Lucille and Mary.  Ed attended and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1963.  Following graduation Ed went on to college at Nettleton Technical Institute where he graduated in 1967 with a degree in drafting.

Ed began his career in 1968 working for an architectural firm in Columbus.  He then started working for the City of Grand Island as a planning technician in the Regional Planning Department.  Ed loved his time there and retired after 49 years.

On Aug. 31, 2002, he was united in marriage to Terri Lynn Noble at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fullerton.

Ed loved boating and fishing.  He loved farming when he could on the family farm.  Ed had a love for tractors, restoring them was his favorite hobby. Ed’s favorite tractor that he restored is the John Deere 60.  Terri and Ed shared a love for their horse Hector.  Ed loved to feed him treats.  Ed had a soft spot for their dogs, Cowboy and Zoe.  He would spoil them any chance he got.

Ed was a wonderful husband, and a friend to many.  Survivors include his wife, Terri; her children, Laurie (Steve) Hergott, Bob Dubas, and Brent Dubas all of Columbus and their four children; sisters, Lucille Shimmick and Mary (Howard) Smith; sister-in-law, Coleen Sweet; many nieces and nephews, and many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Monica Maslonka; in-laws, Robert and Maryanne Noble; Terri’s children, Julie and AJ Dubas; brothers-in-law, Norman Shimmick and Jack Sweet.
