Dear Editor,
As members of the Board of Fullerton’s Future Inc. we are writing to highlight both the progress and setbacks that we have recently experienced in opening the childcare center and preschool in hopes that you will share it with your readers.
We will start with the progress (and positives)! We have hired qualified staff that are anxiously awaiting the opening of the preschool and childcare center. We also have excellent enrollment numbers which confirms the need for both a childcare center and preschool in our community. We are also all complete with construction, remodeling and any cleaning that needed to be done to both spaces.
Now for the setbacks which have impacted our planned opening. Originally, we were shooting for an opening date of September 3rd. That was until there was a delay on additional construction that need to be completed and getting the fire suppression system installed. Also, if you have driven past, you may have noticed that a 4” water line had to be brought into the building due to the requirements by law for the fire suppression system. Once all of that was completed there have been delays in getting the State Fire Inspector there which is required before we can have DHHS come to inspect for the final licensing. The bottom line is, we are ready!! We are ready for these final inspections which should happen in the next two weeks and once those are complete and approved, we can open. We would like to acknowledge Senator Loren Lippencott’s office for reaching out to the State Fire Marshall and getting them to come as soon as possible.
We are committed to providing safe, fully approved and licensed facilities to the youngest members of our community and their parents. We appreciate the patience of the families and community as we work through what we hope to be the last hurdles to us being able to officially open.
We also appreciate those that have supported this project. We would like to remind those that have publicly criticized this project and our fundraising efforts that we are volunteers. This is a volunteer board that is doing everything we can to add what we see as an improvement to our community. Just like almost any building project it does not come without headaches and struggle. The childcare center and preschool that we are opening is a nonprofit. We are not in this for fame or fortune, we are in this to support the future citizens of Nance County. We encourage you to reach out to any of the members of our board directly if you have questions or would like more information on how you can support Fullerton’s Future.
Sincerely,
The Board of Directors of Fullerton’s Future Inc.
