Thankful thoughts

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I try to be thankful every day, but some days it’s harder than others. This time of year we have our annual reminder to be thankful. I am thankful for God and having Jesus as my Savior. I’m thankful I was raised Christian and taken to church.

A heritage of thanksgiving

I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving this year. To me, Thanksgiving is a time for family. It’s hard to get everyone together when we have business to attend to here and our family lives in Nebraska, in Indiana, and near Toronto. We’ve got the oldest grandchild on my side of the family.

Thanks & More

Thank you so much to our family and all of you for your cards, calls and flowers. Thank you to Todd & Rita, Troy & Marianne, Tom & Mary and Tim & Jenny for taking us out to dinner. It made our 60th anniversary very special.

Thanksgiving and the attitude of gratitude

Have you ever given to someone something of value and not received a “thank you” or even an acknowledgement of the gift? How did you feel about that?

Practicing Gratitude

I love Thanksgiving. I love preparing the food all day and enjoying it while sitting around a table with some of the people I love most. And there is one holiday tradition that I have grown to adore. As we sit down to eat, we share one thing we feel grateful for this year.

I do not get the punch line

Charlie always makes me laugh. My 5-year-old son tries very hard to tell me jokes. Some are funny. Some make absolutely no sense. But I always laugh. His jokes are getting better. You can at least see his little brain trying to come up with a punch line.

I am thankful

Thanksgiving is almost here. Blink and it will be Christmas and then 2024. But for now, I want to pause and think about what I am thankful for. I can’t list everything. An exhaustive list would be exhausting for most people to read. Here’s a start. I’m thankful for my family.

If you want to get a teenager’s attention, ask him if he would like to become a millionaire by the time he’s 65. Tell him it will take a relatively minimal investment and absolutely no effort after he reaches the age of 21.

A busy November

Here it is mid-November. Are you panicking yet? Is your Christmas shopping started? Or do you wait until after Thanksgiving? I’ve had a little more time recently, so I’ve been trying to get caught up on some things.

I don’t remember much about my recent 64-block ambulance ride from my house to an urban hospital, but I was told after the fact that it was a matter of a few minutes to keep my body from going into septic shock.
