I enjoy the town festivals in Nebraska. The Swedish Festival in Stromsburg has meant more to me each year because my love for the community has grown along with the people being honored and celebrated. I noticed something after the parade that I’m sure is not unique to Stromsburg.

My aunt turns 80 this week, so we are going down to celebrate with her. I can’t remember the last time I saw my aunt. She doesn’t go to funerals, weddings or graduations. She is mentally handicapped. I have known this my entire life. If you speak to her, you know.

We just finished the first session of the two year 108th Legislature and my first year as the senator from District 34. With 2023 being an odd numbered year, lawmakers had 90 legislative workdays. Next year the session will be just 60 days long.
