GENOA — Nebraska Christian’s pressure defense was too much for Twin River on Thursday.
The Titans fell to the Class D1 No. 8 Eagles 63-41 to open the season. Twin River (0-1) struggled against the Nebraska Christian (1-0) press throughout the contest.
The Titans were led by JLee Van Driel, who finished with 14 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals. Clara Preister finished 10 points and 9 rebounds. Mya Ramaekers, Katie Preister and Parker Zabka all finished with 5 points. Grace Yrkoski grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.
Twin River shot 17-for-47 from the field and 3-for-10 from the free throw line. Nebraska Christian grabbed 17 offensive rebounds, giving the Eagles second and third shot opportunities.
Twin River is back in action on Saturday when they play host to Shelby-Rising City. Tipoff is at 2:30 p.m.
