COLUMBUS — Trent Crumley has been promoted to Canal Lead at Loup Power District. In his new role, Crumley oversees canal-related projects from the railroad siphon east of Genoa to the tailrace area southeast of Columbus.

CPPD customers give $3,450 in grants

The Red Cross Bloodmobile will visit Cedar Rapids on Sept. 18 from noon to 6 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Parish Center, 111 N. 6th St. September is National Preparedness month. A strong blood supply is key to preparedness for disasters and medical emergencies.

ALBION – Boone County Health Center (BCHC) in Albion, NE, announced today that its Board of Directors appointed Caleb Poore as its next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Poore is set to begin his duties in mid-October and will succeed Tanya Sharp, who resigned in April.

State Fair attendance up nearly 30 percent through five days

Great weather and a number of fun attractions helped push the 2023 Nebraska State Fair to a 29.9 percent increase in attendance through the first five days as compared to the same five days in 2022, according to preliminary data released by the Fair Wednesday.
Shade and seating are available throughout the grounds to provide a break from the summer sun. Fairgoers need only look for the canopies, which are also marked on the daily maps and in the gatebook. Photo provided

GRAND ISLAND — You literally can have it made in the shade at the Nebraska State Fair — almost twice as much as before. Knowing the importance of finding a cool spot to have a bite, take a break or watch the fair go by, fair officials have invested about $25,000 in additional shade.

State Fair sets aside day to honor Nebraska veterans

GRAND ISLAND — Veterans will take center stage during the final day of the Nebraska State Fair, Monday, Sept. 4. “We moved Veteran’s Day to Labor Day after getting feedback from many vets last year,” said Karli Schulz, Entertainment and Events Director.
