‘History never repeats itself, but it often rhymes’

A famous quote attributed to Mark Twain is that “History never repeats itself, but it often rhymes.” I looked it up to get the quote right and found that he may have never said it at all. I find that to be the case with a lot of quotes I research.

Beth and I talked to a fellow newspaper owner in the state who said that it is rare for a husband and wife to both write a column. I hadn’t really thought about it before. We both like to write, and we have different topics that we pursue. I’m glad we’re able to do it.

Is Age Really the Problem?

I’m concerned about a trend I’m seeing. A lot of people are saying that you can be too old to be president. At one level, I think it’s just a lazy way to say they don’t like a particular official or candidate.

A Fun Day Outdoors

A month ago I mentioned Outdoor Adventure Day was coming and it finally arrived over the weekend. It was delayed because of rainy weather the previous weekend, but this weekend was a lot nicer. I think everyone had a great time.

I’ve listened to a couple more audio books since I last wrote about the experience. I listened to “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck, a collection of stories by H. G. Wells, and “Planet of the Apes” by Pierre Boulle. I’d seen movie adaptations of all but two of the H. G.
