Early primary voting begins

FULLERTON — Early voting has begun ahead of the May 12 primary election.Monday marked the first day that Nebraska residents could vote in person at their county courthouses.

Gov. Pillen issues new order rescinding burn ban

LINCOLN — Today, Governor Jim Pillen rescinded his most recently issued burn ban, which clears the way for burn permits to be issued through the authority of local fire chiefs or designated department members.

Belgrade firefighters deploy to battle blaze

Several members of the Belgrade Volunteer Fire Department (BVFD) have been deployed to assist with the Brady Wildfire, joining other regional firefighters working to contain the fastmoving blaze.

Open houses scheduled for nitrate management

The Lower Loup NRD is hosting a series of Nitrate Management Information Open House events.Two meetings are scheduled for later this month. The first is Monday, March 23 in St. Edward from 4-7 p.m. at the community building, located at 206 N. 5th St.

LINCOLN — During the month of March, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services encourages Nebraska residents age 45 and older to get screened for colon cancer. Both men and women over the age of 45 are at increased risk, and regular preventive health screenings save lives.

Loup Power District renews memberships

COLUMBUS — Loup Power District renewed its membership in Community Clubs and Chambers of Commerce in towns throughout its service area.Checks totaling $34,736 were presented to communities in Boone, Colfax, Nance, Platte, and Madison counties.
