LINCOLN — Fourteen Boone and Nance County 4-H members competed in the Premier Animal Science Event (PASE), a two-day fun educational challenge held at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, East Campus. Participants could compete in a wide array of events.

NCDA presents grants to 2 businesses

The Nance County Development Agency and the Board of Supervisors recently presented two $5,000 grants to area businesses. T & A’s Tree Service and Holy Cow Coffee each received the grants.

Kids make most of detasseling season

FULLERTON — Every July, young people across the state start their day well before dawn to participate in what many consider a rural Nebraskan right of passage.
Detasseling is hot hard work and thousands of kids starting as young as age 12 do it every July.
