Patton Soars, Takes Pole Vault State Title

OMAHA — What a way to end the season. Fullerton and Twin River athletes had one last chance to shine this year as they competed at the 2023 Nebraska Class C & D State Championships, which was Friday and Saturday at Burke Stadium in Omaha. Fullerton sent 10 athletes to the competition.

Central City/Fullerton/Centura Baseball Season Ends At State

OMAHA — It’s hard to beat the same team twice in a season. It’s even hard to beat the same team twice in a matter of days. Central City/Fullerton/Centura (21-6) saw its baseball season come to an end at State, falling 8-7 to Wayne on May 16.

10 Warriors Punch Tickets to State

BURWELL — Next stop, Omaha.  Ten members of Fullerton’s track team punched their tickets to state thanks to strong performances on Wednesday at the D-5 District in Burwell. The meet was delayed about an hour because of storms. Julianna Maxfield finished second in the 1600- and 3200-meter runs.

Golf Season Ends at D-2 District Meet

PENDER — Fullerton saw its golf season come to a close on Monday at the D-2 District at Twin Creek Golf Course in Pender. The Warriors finished seventh overall with a team score of 396. Pender won the District Title, shooting a 327 on the day.

OMAHA — These next races and jumps are for all the marbles. Nance County is sending 11 athletes to the 2023 Nebraska Class C & D State Championships, which is Friday and Saturday at Burke Stadium in Omaha. Twin River is Class C and Fullerton is Class D.

HUMPHREY — It was not your typical conference track meet. Delayed from Friday and moved to a new location, the Goldenrod Conference meet featured both high school and junior high teams completing different events at the same time.

Upcoming District Schedule

Area teams are entering the final weeks of their seasons. Baseball Twin River takes on Lincoln Christian in the C-2 District at Plattsmouth on Thursday. Central City/Fullerton/Centura play host to Louisville in the C-3 District on Thursday.

Kernels Sweep Titans, Vikings

CENTRAL CITY — The Kernels used a 10 run second inning to take complete control of Omaha North as Central City/Fullerton/Centura defeated the Vikings 29-4 in 5 innings on Thursday. The Kernels added 11 runs in the fourth inning as the offense exploded for 20 hits in the game.

Warriors compete at Shelby-Rising City Invite

SHELBY — The Warriors traveled to Shelby on Tuesday for the Shelby-Rising City Invite. Fullerton was one of 13 teams competing at the event. Lainie Ziemba finished second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.31 and third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.37.
