FULLERTON — Recently the Nance County Journal had the privilege to sit down with Liz Zarek (Steele) to have a conversation about her life and memories in Fullerton. Liz is someone who has been and still is instrumental in building a sense of community with those around her.

FULLERTON — By mid-May it is debatable whether it is the teachers or students who are more ready for summer break. But as August approaches and school supplies begin to fill store shelves, it is hard to deny the excitement that surrounds an upcoming new school year.

Local sisters attend Wayne State Music Camp

WAYNE — Lylla and PJ Sabata attended Wayne State Music Camp from July 31 to Aug. 3. This was their second year attending the camp. They were the only students from Fullerton to attend. Lylla is an incoming freshman at Fullerton and PJ is an incoming seventh grader.

Fullerton library announces new hours

FULLERTON — The Fullerton Public Library announced it is adjusting the hours it will be open starting Aug. 14. The library will be open on Monday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday through Friday from 1-5 p.m. and first and third Saturday of each month from 10 a.m.

Veterans Memorial receives big donation

Guess who read 1000 books before kindergarten?

These three completed the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program at the Fullerton Public Library. Debut Number

FULLERTON — School won’t start for a few more weeks, but class was in session last week for 28 Fullerton students who will comprise the schools new show choir: 8th and Broadway. The students spent time learning the choreography from Emma Sutter of Aurora.
