Fullerton FFA collects for hurricane disaster relief

FULLERTON — Fullerton’s FFA is working with other FFA chapters in the area to collect donations for hurricane disaster relief.Donations need to be dropped off at the school at the ag shop or with a FFA member by 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The donations will be taken to York Friday afternoon.

Sheriff: Watch for bald eagle

FULLERTON — The Nance County Sheriff’s Office has responded to two bald eagles hit by vehicles in Nance County in the last week.One eagle was hit on Highway 14 south of the overflow bridge. When deputies arrived the eagle was alive and alert.

Work will begin on N-39, south of Genoa

GRAND ISLAND — Weather permitting, work will begin Oct. 9 on N-39, from reference post 18.15 to reference post 18.40, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.JMN Construction, LLC of Valley is the contractor for this project. Work includes bridge expansion joint repair.

Nance County gets storm aid

LINCOLN — Governor Jim Pillen is announcing the receipt of federal funds to aid in the recovery from storms that impacted multiple Nebraska counties June 20 – July 8. This is the fourth time federal funds have been awarded to the state due to severe weather this year.

GENOA — Twin River is looking at spending between $115-120,000 to relocate some playground equipment. And the district may have to pay it twice.

Fentanyl pills found in Genoa

GENOA — Twin River administrators announced on Friday that law enforcement informed the district that pills containing fentanyl were found in the community.Interim Superintendent Chris Lecher made the announcement in a letter to parents that was also released on social media.

Zarek marks 25 years at Loup Power

COLUMBUS — Loup Power District recently recognized Andy Zarek for 25 years of service to Loup Power District.Zarek joined Loup in 1999 as a Maintenance Man at the Genoa Headworks. He was promoted to Equipment Operator in 2005 and was named Dredge Operator in 2015.

Twin River discusses 2024-2025 budget

GENOA—The Twin River Board of Education met on Wednesday to get their first look at the 2024-2025 school budget.The board met for a budget workshop. No one from the public attended the meeting.
