Beef certification training Feb. 22 at fairgrounds

Nebraska Beef Quality Assurance has a certification training scheduled for Feb. 22 in Fullerton. The BQA& BQAT Certification Training will take place Thursday, Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. in the event building at the Nance County Fairgrounds, located at 406 N. Ida St.

County needs 2 election workers

Nance County needs two more election workers for the May primary. Nance County Clerk Adrian Chlopek said they are still looking for two workers for the Genoa polling location. She said that they can be either Republican or Democrat and do not have to live in Genoa to work the polls.

Schools short on wrestling tickets

Posts on social media have been flying around that some schools are not receiving all the tickets for state wrestling that they requested. This is probably true, but according to NSAA, it’s just a few of the schools. The NSAA assistant director Ron Higdon released a video explaining this.

GENOA — Now is your chance to be heard. The Twin River Schools Board of Education held its first of two public meetings on Monday to give voters in the district a chance to see what could be included in a building project referendum that could be on the May ballot.

Residents can apply for early voting

Nebraskans who would like to vote early for the May 14, 2024, statewide primary can now submit early voting applications to their county election office.

Twin River Speech wins at Shamrock Invite

COLUMBUS — The Twin River Speech Family braved the cold and traveled to Columbus on Saturday for the Scotus Central Catholic Shamrock Invite. This meet ran novice and varsity divisions in most events.

Recycled floor, new gift

Kadin Buhl recycled our old gym floor into brand new corn hole boards for a shop project. Kadin collected pieces of the gym floor his older brothers played on and gifted these brand new boards to them for Christmas.

DIGGING OUT

It appears the worst is behind us. Nance County residents, as well as people across central Nebraska, find themselves digging out of the second round of winter storms to hit the area in a week. According to the National Weather Service, snow totals in the last week vary from 6 to 10 inches.
