City falls prey to wire fraud scheme

The City of Fullerton released the following statement Wednesday morning: The City of Fullerton announced that it fell victim to a sophisticated wire fraud scheme. Believing that the City was paying one of its contractors, the City wired funds in the amount of $174,086.55.

CENTRAL CITY — A Fullerton grad has opened a chiropractor’s office in Central City.Dr. T.J. Ostransky, a member of the Fullerton Class of 2015, recently opened the doors of Ostransky Chiropractic. The business, located at 215 G. St., Central City, opened May 4.

Busy July 3 planned in Fullerton for 250th

FULLERTON — Celebrate the nations’ 250th birthday on July 3 in Fullerton at the city park.The sand volleyball tournament is in the city park beginning at 1 p.m. Forms to register teams are available now at Meyz Hardware and The Flower Barrel.The swimming pool will be open for free swim from 1-5 p.m.

Twin River demolition begins early

GENOA — Phase 2 of the Twin River construction project kicked off on Monday with the beginning of the demolition of the 1929 building.The district announced the building was coming down a week earlier than originally anticipated. It was previously announced the building would come down next week.

FULLERTON — Monday marked the return of a hardware store on Broadway.After months of preparation, Meyz Hardware opened its doors.“It’s really special,” Owner Maxton Meysenburg said. “A lot of work has gone into it. From coming in after school and working. Just all the long days.

Board of ed discusses AI use in schools

FULLERTON — The Fullerton Board of Education voted on Monday on two policies involving artificial intelligence within the district.The board adopted Policy 6038 (Student Use of AI Tools) and Policy 4065 (Staff Use of AI Tools).
