Senate debate set for Sept. 1

GRAND ISLAND — News Channel Nebraska is partnering with the Nebraska State Fair and three other Nebraska news organizations to host and broadcast a live debate between Nebraska U.S. Senate candidates.The debate will feature Sen. Pete Ricketts and Dan Osborn. It will take place Tuesday, Sept.

Free meals now available for more students

Under legislative action LB 966, known as the Hunger-Free SchoolsAct, and updated Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) program guidance, students who qualify for reduced-price school meals will now receive breakfast and lunch at zero cost.

Nebraska reports low SNAP payment error rate for 2025

LINCOLN — The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services’ (DHHS) Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) was commended by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food and Nutrition Administration (FNA) after recording a 5.9% payment error rate for the 2025 federal fiscal year.

Nebraska cyclosporiasis cases linked to national outbreak

LINCOLN — The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has just been notified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that 92 Nebraska cyclosporiasis cases have been linked to an ongoing multi-state outbreak. Nebraska currently has 218 confirmed cases.
