Students honored at CCC-Grand Island awards convocation

GRAND ISLAND — Special recognition awards were presented April 23 at the Central Community College-Grand Island Student Recognition andAward Ceremony.The ceremony also recognized students enrolled at the Holdrege, Kearney and Lexington center and online.

Smith & Sons Repair hosts multi-day tow truck seminar

A lot of things went wrong when your car is off the ground. That was not the case last week as Smith & Sons welcomed Casey Burrows and Wreckmaster for a multi-day tow truck seminar that gave hands-on instruction to area recovery drivers.

Palmer recognized for 50 years as funeral director

George Palmer attended the Tri-State Convention/Nebraska Annual Meeting today in Kansas City to receive recognition for 50 years of dedicated service as a funeral director. He was the sole recipient of this award in Nebraska this year. 

Herman marks 30 years at Loup

Herman marks 30 years at LoupCOLUMBUS — Loup Power District is recognizing Brian Herman of Fullerton for 30 years of service.Herman joined Loup in 1995 as an Apprentice Line Technician in Fullerton and was promoted to Line Technician later that year.

Boone Nance Genealogy SocietyThirteen members of the Boone Nance Genealogy Society met at the Fullerton Public Library onApril 14. An inquiry was received asking for information on the Lorenzo and Ida Tomlinson family.Some recent news articles of local interest were discussed.

UNMC commencements to be held throughout state May 8 and 10

The University of Nebraska Medical Center will honor two individuals with special awards at its May 10 Omaha commencement at Baxter Arena, as approximately 1,000 students receive degrees this week across UNMC’s five campuses.
