Next Saturday, August 3, has been designated National Watermelon Day. As I prepared to write this column, I learned a lot of interesting facts about this favorite summer sweet. (I also found myself wishing I had a slice of this sweet, juicy fruit to enjoy while writing this weekly missive.

A few years ago, while driving home from work, I met a semi. That’s not all that unusual— I meet LOTS of trucks whenever I drive that particular stretch of road. But that afternoon one eighteen-wheeler in particular stood out.

On July 19, 2024, the Flower Belles met for their monthly meeting at the cabin of Karen Delaney.The meeting was called to order by Karon Horn. Ten members were present.The booth for the fair was put together by Jeanan Glen, Karen Delaney, Karon Horn, Joyce Newquist, and Barb Howser.
