World Compliment Day was begun in the year 2000 by Dutch businessman Hans Poortvliet. He hopes that this day, observed annually on March 1, becomes known as the most positive day in the world. Poortvliet explains.

Blood drive returning April 9

Fullerton Bloodmobile was held February 13. We collected 47 units from our loyal donors. Those giving double units were Pat Larsen, Doug Cornwell, Riley Lane, Brandon Welch, and Mary Lou Rupp.

Junior Leaders play Cupid, spread Valentine cheer

The Cupid Crew is an effort through AARP to help lessen the impact of social isolation on Valentine’s Day. Wish of a Lifetime from AARP’s 10th annual Cupid Crew will hand deliver over 100,000 roses to older adults.

Businesses earn Chamber’s First Dollar award

River’s Edge Locker was presented with a First Dollar award by Chamber President Suzanne Schweitz. Pictured are Brad Gleason, Candace Gleason, and Isaac Gleason with Suzanne. Rivers Edge accepts Chamber Bucks. The business opened in October and two years of paperwork and construction.

Fire department receives $750 gift

Cornhusker Public Power District Trustee Marc Swantek (right) presents $750 to the Belgrade Volunteer Fire Department for scuba air packs. Accepting the check is Fire Chief Seth Nelson. Cornhusker Power Goodwill Fund trustees awarded $5,425 to 18 organizations at the Feb. 5 meeting.

Piecin’ Pals Nine members of the Piecin’ Pals Quilt Guild met Wednesday, Feb 7, 2024. One guest, Pastor Lynde Linde, became a member of the group. Shelley Towey, president, initiated roll call which consisted of our name, town and cartoon character we liked.

Community Builders to meet in Howells on March 21

Community Builders announces the next meeting to be held in Howells on Thursday, March 21, 2024. Registration begins at 3:15 p.m. with a tour of Maple Creek Seeds, 229 North 3rd Street. Tours include Howells Ballroom, Howells Historical Museum, and Eighty8 Bar & Grill.
