Reardon pleads guilty to reduced charges

FULLERTON — A St. Edward man is set to be sentenced in July after accepting a plea deal for reduced charges.

Neal C. Reardon, 23, of St. Edward, pled guilty on April 30 to attempted sexual assault and enticement by electronic communication device. Two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a child were dropped. He was originally accused of sexual assault and sending inappropriate text messages to two underage girls.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 7 at 2:30 p.m. in the Nance County District Court. Reardon posted bail earlier this month and is free until sentencing.

According to court documents, Nance County Deputy Eric Griffin interviewed the girls, age 15 and 16. Reardon allegedly sent sexually explicit images to the girls sometime from late December to early January while the girls were on winter break. The girls told Griffin that in November they had been in Reardon’s vehicle driving on gravel roads in rural Nance and Boone counties. The girls were intoxicated and this was when the alleged sexual assault occurred.

Griffin wrote that Reardon admitted to sending the explicit message including pictures to the girls and knew one of them were under the age of 16. He also wrote that Reardon admitted that he knew the girls were intoxicated when they were in his vehicle. During the interview, Reardon admitted to the assault, with the victim being 15 at the time of the incident.
