FULLERTON — The city of Fullerton put out a statement updating the community on the status of the public water system.
“Water chlorination has ended, and fluoride has been introduced back into the public water system,” Allen Chlopek, city administrator, said in a statement. “It may take a couple weeks for the remaining chlorine in the system to work its way through, as this time of year tends to see decreased water usage with the temperature decreasing. We have completed the 30-day disinfection requirement that was the result of the Level II assessment issued on Oct. 18. There was interest in those tests being made available to the public, so those are on the city website, fullertonne. gov under the Water Utilities section in the Residents tab.
Keep your eye to the Journal for more updates on water projects as we finish up work locating and designing a new municipal well, but right now the project is in a hurry up and wait stretch as we are waiting to get water sample test results back from the test wells that were drilled in October.
Lastly, we will be working with the Lower Loup NRD and the NE Dept. of Environment and Energy on a well decommissioning project. If you have a well that is no longer serving its purpose, and you would like it decommissioned please reach out. The goal is to decommission these wells at no cost to the owner, so if this is something you are interested in, please reach out. The well does not need to be registered to be decommissioned. Please reach out to us at City Hall 308-536-2428 if you have any questions.”
