CENTRAL CITY — Merrick Arts Council in Central City announces its 2024-25 season with five shows starting Sept. 15. All shows are held at the Central City Performing Arts Center, Edwin and Bernice Lock Theatre.
Opening the season will be stand-up comedian Cyrus Steele on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. His comedic force has appealed to all audiences with clean comedy, wit, and hilarious impersonations. On Oct. 20 at 2 p.m., two barbershop choruses from Lincoln will entertain with the close sounds and humor of barbershop music. This features a men’s group, the Lincoln Continentals and a women’s group, the Lincolnaires Chorus. Sunday, Nov. 10 at 2 will feature a trio called the Shucks Brothers with serious string tickling and great harmony vocals. La Dolce Vita Duo will perform their dynamic flute and guitar repertoire on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 2 p.m. Closing the season will be the Flatwater Jazz Orchestra from the Kearney area on Sunday, April 13 at 2 p.m. with music from swing, big band, to jazz. Memberships can be purchased now for $50 for adults until Aug. 31, with prices jumping to $60 after that deadline. Students 18 and under will always be FREE! Tickets to individual shows will also always be available for $15, but a season membership is a better deal if you plan to attend all the shows!
