Bike Share program back for seventh year

COLUMBUS — Columbus in Action, Inc. (CIA), a Nebraska nonprofit corporation, is proud to announce that it’s bringing back its bike share program to Columbus for the seventh year. Residents and visitors will once again be able to cycle through the city on two wheels by renting a bicycle free of charge.

"We came up with this idea because we wanted to bring more activities to Columbus," said Scott Mueller, president of CIA. "We have some very nice bike trails, and we want to make it easy for people to get out and enjoy them."

The bicycles are at the Quality Inn – River's Edge Convention Center, Columbus Community Hospital, the Columbus Wellness Center, the Columbus Fieldhouse and the Columbus Community Center.

Users download the free On Bike Share app on their smartphones to ride. The app is in the App Store and on Google Play. After a few simple steps, riders can start using their rented bike in minutes.

The bicycles feature a unisex step-through frame and an adjustable seat to fit a wide range of riders. They also include a seven-speed gear and a rear basket that riders can use for bags, books and groceries.
