Crete, Nebraska - Cooperatives 101: The Basics, Thursday, June 19, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Crete Public Library. People who are interested in forming cooperatives are encouraged to attend to learn the ins and outs of cooperatives, as well as how they can be used as other options of a business structure. At the end of the class, participants will know what a cooperative is, how to start a cooperative, if a cooperative is a good option for them, and how a cooperative can be beneficial. Walthill, Nebraska - Learn to Grow Indoors, Monday, June 23, and Tuesday, June 24, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Walthill Makerspace. During this two-day event, the Greenhouse Guyz will share their expertise in indoor growing and explain the differences between growing indoors and outdoors in a garden. Attendees will get a hands-on demonstration on how to build a hydroponic unit to take home with them to grow their own food indoors. Omaha, Nebraska - Conservation Field Day, Wednesday, June 25, from 4 to 6 p.m., at City Sprouts Farm. This field day is open to all farmers who want to learn how to incorporate conservation practices on urban, small-scale vegetable operations. Discussion topics include cover crops, soil health, and pollinator and perennial planting. The event will be presented in English and Spanish. Nebraska City, Nebraska - Finding the Funds, Framing the Story: A Grant Writing Workshop, Thursday, June 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Kimmel Orchard & Vineyard. This interactive workshop offers a comprehensive, two-part training designed to help nonprofits, local governments, and community groups navigate the evolving grant landscape and craft compelling proposals. Attendees will learn where to find funding opportunities across federal, state, and local sources, as well as how to develop strong project ideas, write persuasive narratives, build effective budgets, and more. Walthill, Nebraska - Maker’s Market, Saturday, July 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, at the Walthill Makerspace. Local vendors are invited to showcase their goods to the community and sell any items they create, including jewelry, clothing, art, food, or other items. There is no vendor fee, and tables and canopies are also available at no cost. The Center will host a seasonal food tasting, as well.
