Giving Week coming September 1

Peru State College, Nebraska’s first postsecondary educational institution and proudly known as the Campus of a Thousand Oaks, is excited to celebrate our upcoming Giving Week

This special time highlights the spirit of generosity and community that has sustained our College for more than 155 years. Giving Week is not just about donations—it’s about coming together as alumni, friends, and supporters to honor the tradition of excellence that began here and continues to shape the future for our students.

Your support during Giving Week is vital to the continued success of Peru State College. Gifts of any size make a meaningful impact on scholarships, academic programs, athletics, and campus improvements that enrich the student experience. When you give, you’re investing in opportunities that empower students to thrive, ensuring that the legacy of the Campus of a Thousand Oaks remains strong for generations to come.

Second-Ever Giving Week

In addition, there will be excitement for an event that promises to bring everyone together: Giving Week. This isn't just any fundraising event; it is a celebration of the collective spirit that had built and sustained the College for over 158 years.

In the past, the Peru State College Foundation hosted a 24-hour Giving Day in October. The Foundation Board and staff determined earlier a year ago that a Giving Week correlating with the start of 158 years of education would be a better way to go.

Many Areas to Support

The areas of support for Giving Week are as diverse as the students and alumni themselves.

There will be campaigns supporting various Academic or Athletic needs where donations will help support the activities which bring pride and excitement to campus. Donors also can give to something that they love where they have an opportunity to designate their gift to any area on campus that means the most to them.

Or donors may give funds to the Blue and White Fund through which the Foundation provides funding to help maintain a vibrant campus culture.

Challenges and Matches

To add an extra layer of excitement, the Foundation has arranged several challenges and matches

This year, a very generous donor has stepped forward with an incredible $25,000 match to inspire Bobcats everywhere to give. Even more exciting—the donor will contribute an additional $10,000 if the Foundation reaches its overall goal of $100,000 during Giving Week. Every gift brings us closer to unlocking these challenges and making a transformational impact for Peru State College!

To date there are sixteen different challenges and/or matches in addition to the overall $25,000 opportunity. Additionally, there are matches/challenges for various areas such as the Theatre program, Cross Country and Long Distance Track, School of Professional Studies, Science program, Blue and White Fund, Cheerleading, Business Contest and Collegiate FBLA (formerly PBL), Homecoming, Hall of Fame, School of Education Faculty Development, Dr. Seuss event, School of Education CARE program, Social Science program and Phi Alpha Theta, Football, and the Hicks/Anderson Student Teacher Scholarship.

These challenges are powerful reminders of the College's impact while hoping to inspire others to give back. They highlight the importance of Peru State College and how, through collective effort, remarkable things can be achieved.

More matches and/or challenges could be added before the official start of Giving Week. If you have a challenge in mind, contact the Foundation office.
