Merrick Arts Council in Central City is excited to share their 202526 season with area residents as season memberships are now available. The season will feature five shows of entertainment that people of all ages will enjoy in the beautiful Central City Performing Arts Center, Edwin and Bernice Lock Theatre.
Headlining this season will be former Husker Volleyball Coach John Cook on September 28 at 2:00 p.m. speaking on his philosophy “Dream Big, Dream Like a Champion.” This program will be part of the season package, although extra single tickets will be available online beginning September 8. If purchasing a season membership, please include information to the email or phone number below that indicates whether you plan to attend this show or not. MAC wants to give members first chance at the seats before selling additional seats after the membership drive.
The rest of the season includes Chad and Elaine Stoner Duo, a saxophonist and vocalist performing original and cover tunes on October 26; The Haymakers, an acoustic string band featuring traditional folk to Americana music on November 16; UNL’s Big Red Singers (show choir) and Central City Vocal Eclipse Show Choir on a date to be yet decided in February; and Rebecca Noble’s Cabaret Theatre on April 26 performing ballads, jazz, Broadway, pop and cabaret tunes. Additional funding for these shows comes from Merrick Foundation and Nebraska Arts Council.
Single season memberships are now available at the early bird rate of $50, with that price going up to $60 after September 5. Students up to age 18 will continue to be free to all shows! “We want to encourage people of all ages to enjoy the arts right here in our own communities,” comments Suzanne Philippi, board president. “You don’t have to drive to Lincoln or Omaha to see quality programs.”
