Top-tier care in the heart of rural Nebraska

COLUMBUS — In today’s busy society, parents often find themselves caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life. Add in a sick child, and the whole schedule can fall out of sync.

Micaela Wegener is a wife and working mom of an 11-month-old. When her daughter became sick and was unable to attend daycare, Micaela needed somewhere she could turn for relief. That place turned out to be Lindsay Medical Clinic.

Instead of jumping in the car and driving to a clinic in Norfolk or Columbus, Wegener decided to call the clinic located just two blocks from her home. She scheduled an appointment for her daughter that same day and had the answers she needed within a couple of hours.

“We met with (physician assistant) Bella Hemmer, and she was very knowledgeable and thorough,” Wegener said. “She took her time and answered all my questions to ensure I knew the options available to help my daughter feel better.”

This was not Wegener’s first experience visiting the Lindsay Medical Clinic — her husband had sought care there several times.

“My husband is a farmer, so getting an appointment that works for his schedule is tough,” she said. “From our perspective, the (staff’s) flexibility and willingness to work with someone who doesn’t have a predictable schedule is nice. He can’t control what will happen on the farm, so being able to call and get in for an appointment that close to home is super helpful.”

Wegener said the biggest message she wants to share is that the care her family received was top-tier care — not second-tier care.

“We were more than happy with our experience and will definitely return,” she said. “You can’t replace the convenience of being a couple of blocks from your home versus driving over a half hour to receive the same level of care.”
