On September 21, 2012, former Fullerton resident Vince Koziol graduated from the twoplus year United States Air Force pararescue/combat rescue officer training pipeline as a combat rescue officer. He is a son of Andrew Koziol of Fullerton. Stephanie Vetick was honored for 20 years of service at Golden Living Center. RIDDER: To Zach and Wendy (Wetovick) Ridder of West Point, a son, Barrett John, born on October 12, 2012, at West Point. Elizabeth Patton of Palmer and AJ Shotkoski of Fullerton will exchange wedding vows November 10, 2012, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fullerton.
An Open House celebrating Terry and Wilma Dufoe’s 50th wedding anniversary is Saturday at the Bel-Hog in Belgrade.

Chosen as Fullerton High School King and Queen last Saturday evening were Kody Knopik and Cara Fritz. Linda Harris celebrated her 30 year anniversary with Beverly Healthcare-Fullerton. The Nance County Journal feature was titled “Barnfall of a Landmark; Three generations will remember barn landmark” featuring Elmer Belitz, his son Lynn Belitz, and Lynn’s son Scott Belitz. Mee t A “ Head Sta r t Headliner:” Dalton Mitchell. His favorite place to go is “my grandpa and grandma Mitchell’s,” and his favorite food is “macaroni.”

First place winner in Fullerton’s October Fest Ugly Truck Contest was Jason Horacek. The contest drew 13 contestants. Raymond Boryca was pictured with a truck load of pumpkins he raised. Also in the photo were grandsons, Joshua Molacek, Nicholas Molacek, Beau Boryca, and Corey Boryca.

Marine Cpl. Anthony D. Davis, son of Tom and Susan Davis of Clarks, recently deployed with 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines, Marine Corps Air Station, Kaheohe Bay, HI, for a five-week training exercise.

In a game played at Silver Creek, the Warriorettes won in two sets. Rhonda Walker was high scorer with 12 points, followed by Jody Sullivan with 8. The Fullerton reserve team lost in three sets. Janene Underwood was high scorer with 7 points.
Mrs. Dale Milby was hostess to 12 members of the Flower Belles. Members brought quilts and sample of favorites. Nebraska City’s Apple House was considered for a possible tour. Mrs. Helen Fehrs of Fullerton came within a whisker of having a perfect entry in last week’s Journal Sports Contest. Runner-up was Tim Shotkoski of Fullerton. A farewell luncheon was held October 15 for Mrs. Minnie Jarecke, who is retiring from Fullerton Manor after 14 years of service in the dietary department.

The Fullerton Warriors lost a 28-14 decision against Gibbon on Friday. On the initial play from scrimmage, a 75-yard pass from Tom DeLancey to Jeff Shotkoski was good for a touchdown. A Nance County 4-H team, composed of Scott Russell, Glen Zywiec, Jim Kramer, and Mike Voichahoske took first place in the Nebraska Land Judging Contest Saturday at Ord. The team is eligible to represent the state. CUBA: To Mr. and Mrs. David Cuba, a daughter, born October 24 in Memorial Hospital.
Meet A Fullerton Warrior: Ron Dubas. A 160-lb. junior and returning letterman. He plays guard on both offense and defense, and is a hard hitter, a solid tackler, and a good blocker.
A party was held in the Bill Mangus home Saturday to honor the ninth birthday of their son Paul. The Fullerton Cub Scouts held their pack meeting October 23 in the Legion annex. Awards were given to Mike Fusselman, wolf badge, gold arrow and oneyear pin; Monte Keith, silver arrow under wolf: Todd Miller, Walter Mapes, Ronnie Rice and Wayne Smith, outdoors man badges; Kenneth King, two-year pin and outdoors man badge.
Carroll Rolf of Albion was the winner in the Journal’s weekly Football Contest.

Two former classmates who attended school at Genoa more than 70 years ago recently visited together in Fullerton for the first time since their school days. They were Joe Kmechick, 82, of Springdale, Arkansas, and Mrs. Joseph Pachunka Sr., 83, who makes her home at Cedar Manor in Fullerton. Another local resident, Mrs. Kathryn Uzendoski, also attended school with them but was not present. Harold Aden of the Skeedee community received a badly crushed thumb when it was caught by a corn picker. Meet A Fullerton Warrior: Larry Cunningham. A junior and one-year letterman who plays center. He is a regular from the center position on last year’s squad. He is a fine linebacker on defense. SEMPEK: To Mr. and Mrs. Steve Sempek of Genoa, a son, on October 5 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Columbus. BOYD: To Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Boyd of Genoa, a son, Steven Allen, on October 6 at the Genoa Hospital.

The V.F.W. Auxiliary will this year again send Christmas packages to all the men from Fullerton who are serving in the armed forces. Mrs. Dayle Rumsey and Mrs. Paul Micek are the committee in charge. A car with dual controls for use in giving driving instructions was delivered to the Fullerton High School this week. The car is a Chevrolet and is loaned by the manufacturers through the local dealer. The Lions Club at their meeting Tuesday at the Methodist church heard a financial report of the home talent play recently sponsored by the club. Vicepresident Harvey Whited presided in the absence of President Fred Petersen. BIALAS: To Mr. and Mrs. Emil Bialas of near Clarks, a daughter, Sunday, October 5.
Pvt. Paul Wetovick is spending a 15-day furlough in the home of his parents, Mr. and Ms. August Wetovick. He will report to Camp Stoneman, Calif., for overseas assignment.

Mrs. Dayle Rumsey and Mrs. Milford Scarlett have opened a coffee shop in the former location of the Baehr feed store. The coffee shop is to be known as the “R & S Koffee Kup.” Open season on squirrels opens October 15 and continues until December 31. Corn picking has begun in Nance County and prospects are for a larger crop. Willis Bell, living west of Fullerton, reports that he has some corn yielding 70 bushels to an acre. Clarks: Raymond McCoy, who is serving with the Navy, was killed in line of duty at Portsmouth, Va., Wednesday of last week. A pretty wedding took place on Tuesday, October 6th, at the St. Edward Catholic Church when Miss Clara Chlopek of Fullerton became the bride of Finley Redler of Albion. Charles Moyer suffered a rib fracture Saturday when he fell against a plow handle. E. N. Sprague is suffering from neuritis.
