Twin River releases settlement details

GENOA — Twin River Schools has released details of the settlement reached with a former employee.The Twin River Board of Education approved the resignation of former school counselor Dan Koziol, along with the settlement at their July 15 board meeting.

Junior Angus breeders translated their knowledge in the barn to the plate during the 2024 All-American Certified Angus Beef Cook-Off. The competition has a four-decade history at the National Junior Angus Show (NJAS) and is an event favorite.

Cedar Rapids donates blood

CEDAR RAPIDS — The Red Cross Bloodmobile came to Cedar Rapids recently. For the first time in several years, the goal was not quite met. The goal was only 48 units, and more than 59 donors had registered, but some were no-shows, and some were deferred. Three donors were walk-ins.

The disease aster yellows is infecting purple cone flower and other plants. It is wise to be able to recognize symptoms of this disease. There is no control and the sooner infected plants are removed, the less likely the disease will spread to other plants and carryover from year to year.

GENOA — Pawnee Days returns to Genoa this week. This year’s theme is the Olympics.Fes t i v i t ies kick off on Wednesday at the library with a magic show at noon.On Thursday, there will be a freewill donation supper by the Twin River Student Council.

Twin River abandons modular class plans

GENOA — Twin River schools has decided to forgo the use of modular classrooms while they complete construction on the new school building.The Twin River Board of Education made the decision Monday night at their special meeting.
