An armadillo was found in East Newman Township north of Prairie Creek on 560th St. Armadillos have been spotted in Nebraska for several years, likely first appearing in the 1970s. Although not native to Nebraska, the nine-banded armadillo has been expanding its range northward for over a century and can now be found in the state. Armadillos are more frequently seen in lower-tier counties and are adapting to changes in climate, land use, and other factors. Photo provided
