Standoff in Fremont comes to safe conclusion Sunday

FREMONT — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested one person after a standoff in Fremont overnight Saturday into Sunday.Saturday at approximately 11 p.m., Fremont Police officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 1200 block of North L Street.

Craftique on Broadway receives First Dollar Award

Nicole Hixson, owner of Craftique on Broadway, recently received the First Dollar Award from the Fullerton Area Chamber of Commerce. She recently announced that she will be opening over the summer and many of the items will be DIY and can be done on location or at home.

Street Dance is Friday

FULLERTON — Lace up your dancing shoes and head over to Broadway.The 10th annual Fullerton Volunteer Fire Department Street Dance is Friday. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and entertainment by the James Lee Band will be on stage from 8 p.m. to midnight.Kennabell’s BBQ food truck will be on hand.

Summer fun at day camp, June 22-27

An exciting, super, fun-filled week of Day Camp is being planned at Whispering Cedars Baptist Camp. All children K – 6th (this coming fall) are invited to come to camp for five whole days of total adventure. Each child will want to be at camp every day June 22-27.

Ready, set, duck!

COLUMBUS — Duck, Duck…Duck? The Columbus Area United Way is preparing for their annual Duck Race. Duck Race kickoff will be held on Thursday, June 11th from 5-7 p.m. at three area locations. The locations selling tickets this year are Big 10 Sports Bar & Grill, Bo’s West, and Cork & Barrel.

Work will begin on US-30, east of Central City

GRAND ISLAND — Weather permitting, work will begin on June 8 on U.S. Highway 30, from reference post 337.82 to reference post 346.05, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.Werner Construction, Inc., of Hastings, is the contractor for this project.
