Flow Meter Installation Requirement announced

On January 25, 2024, the Lower Loup NRD Board of Directors voted to designate Water Management Areas 18 and 20 as Water Quantity Management Sub-Areas. In 2023, Areas 18 and 20 triggered the Lower Loup NRD’s Drought Management Plan’s Severe Drought Management Actions based on 1) the U.S.

Journey toward healing

GENOA — It has been three years since the Nebraska Legislature set aside Feb. 20 as the annual Day of Remembrance to recognize the atrocities and trauma that were endured by the survivors and families of the children who attended the Indian Industrial School in Genoa. Feb.

Family Stories or True History coming to area

CENTRAL CITY — Merrick County Historical Museum will be featuring an informative presentation “Family Stories or True History ?” at the March 10 meeting. Luddene Perry, a museum board director, will present how to distinguish between the two by giving an example from the museum’s collection.

Deadline passes for incumbents to file

Five candidates filed paperwork last week to appear on the primary ballot.  Lisa L. Lassek filed paperwork to run for re-election to the Fullerton City Council. Jennifer R. Quintanilla filed paperwork to run for re-election to the Genoa City Council.

Loup Power delivers lease payments to area groups

COLUMBUS — Loup Power District recently delivered lease payment checks totaling more than $1.3 million to area communities.  Each of these communities owns their electric distribution systems. These payments compensate them for the use of those systems for the fourth quarter of 2023.
