FULLERTON — Larry Phillips was born in Fullerton, Nebraska in 1934. His father worked at a filling station. During World War Two the family moved to Central City then Kearney, where they stayed through the duration of the war.

Fullerton music program honored by NMEA

Fullerton’s music program, along with director Colton Kohl, was recognized recently by the Nebraska Music Education Association for having more than 75 percent of the student body participating in the program. Fullerton was named a Level 1 school by the NMEA.

Thanksgiving costing more this year

FULLERTON — With Thanksgiving this week, those planning on hosting a festive gathering are no doubt eyeing grocery store prices to gauge how much their meal is going to cost this year. In the past year inflation has increased food prices by an average of 3.7%. That is on top of the 9.

Loup Power delivers lease payments

COLUMBUS — Loup Power District recently delivered lease payments totaling more than $1.5 million to area communities. Each of these communities owns their electric distribution systems. These payments compensate them for the use of those systems for the third quarter of 2023.

Nebraska Tobacco Quitline turns 20

LINCOLN — People who smoke or chew in Nebraska are six to 10 times more likely to stay tobacco-free if they reach out for help using the Nebraska Tobacco Quitline. The Nebraska Tobacco Quitline started as a free and confidential phone service two decades ago.

Public Power District awards grants to help communities

Cornhusker Power Goodwill Fund trustees awarded $3,100 to 16 organizations at the November 6 meeting. Cornhusker Public Power District CEO/GM Clay Gibbs said, “These organizations are doing great things in the community, and we are very proud to be a part of it.
