Fullerton woman dies in Columbus shooting

COLUMBUS — Columbus Police have arrested a man in connection to the fatal shooting of a Fullerton woman.Officers responded to a call at 8:37 p.m. on Tuesday in the 2200 block of 7th Street in Columbus after receiving a report of a female suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

TITAN HOMECOMING

Twin River celebrated Homecoming last week, capping the week’s festivities with the Homecoming Parade on Friday. Students held signs, rode floats and cheered on the Titans to a victory Friday night against Heartland.

Twin River changing messaging services

GENOA — Twin River Schools is moving to a new messaging service.The Twin River Board of Education approved the change at their meeting on Monday. The district will switch over to Apptegy Rooms later this year.

FULLERTON — Make plans to come to Fullerton for the Fall Festival.Fullerton’s Fall Festival is Saturday, Sept. 27. There are plenty of activities all day. It’s fun for the entire family.Events include:• Cinnamon Bun Fun Run at Fired Up Fitness — 8 a.m.• Fullerton Museum is open — 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Meet Fletch at library on Monday

FULLERTON — The community can meet Fletch on Monday at the Fullerton Public Library.Fletch, the library’s new therapy dog, made his debut this week. Area children were able to read to him starting on Monday.

CCC enrollment continues upward trend

GRAND ISLAND — Central Community College has announced its total college-wide enrollment for the fall 2025 semester is 6,841, comprised of 2,214 on-campus and 4,627 distance learning students. Total enrollment grew by nearly 300 students or approximately 4.

Applications accepted for state commission vacancy

LINCOLN — Governor Jim Pillen is accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the State Racing and Gaming Commission (NRGC). The vacancy is due to the resignation of Tony Fulton, who has served on the commission since June 2021, as an at-large representative in District 1.
