Oly was born August 29, 1940 to Kurt and Erna Liesch at Neuendorf, Germany. On February 2, 1952, his family moved to the United States.
They lived in David City for a few years before moving to Belgrade, where he graduated from Belgrade High School. His favorite high school memory was playing basketball. After high school, he farmed with his family near Belgrade. On March 5, 1977, he was united in marriage to Carol Ann Mensching at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Fullerton. They made their home on a farm north of Fullerton. He continued farming until the early 2000’s when he retired. After retirement, Oly and Carol traveled all over.
Oly loved listening to polka music, playing horseshoes, watching the Nebraska Huskers, socializing, and drinking his red beer. Every Sunday, he looked forward to going to either the Loup River Inn for fried chicken or to Belgrade for Tom & Jerry’s. He also went to Pappy’s Place every morning for his two eggs and toast. He was always excited to find out how much rain everyone had in the area and helped a lot of people witch for wells. Oly was always happy and loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church and was very active and rarely missed church.
He is survived by his brothers, Helmut (Leta) Liesch and Chris Liesch, both of Fullerton; step-children, Sheila (Terry) Linden of Fullerton, Tina (Kelly) Fleming of Albion, and Dion (Diane) Pryor of Fullerton; step-grandchildren, Tylor Howard, David Howard, Kaeley Linden, Debra Schnell, Jeremy MacDonald, Logan Shotkoski, Daniel Pryor, Dawn Pryor, and Eric Pryor; 10 step-greatgrandchildren; nephew, Mike Liesch of Fullerton; and nieces, Christina (William) Warner of Fullerton and Leslie (Chad) Pickrel of Fullerton.
