Norma was born Jan. 30, 1925, to Frank and Elsie (Klein) Wagner at Wolbach, the youngest of their four children. She grew up in the Wolbach area, attending country school. She graduated from Wolbach High School in 1942. Afterwards, she took employment at the ordinance plant in Grand Island, where she assembled parts used in shells and bombs.

On April 30, 1945, she married Ted Schweitz at Peace Lutheran Church in Timber Creek. While he was serving with the Army overseas, she took employment in Omaha at the Nagel Manufacturing Plant — a company that produced brushes used to apply nail polish. When Ted was discharged in early 1947, the couple returned to the Belgrade area to farm. In 1962, the family moved to Fullerton.

Norma was an active member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and LWML. For many years, she helped deliver Meals on Wheels. She also enjoyed her time with the Flower Bells, Extension Club, various bowling leagues, and card clubs. She was active for many years in 4-H, assisting her five children with their various projects and fair entries – as well as many of her own. Her baking, handiwork, and floral entries always placed high. She was a big supporter of the Nance County Fair.

She is survived by her children, Judith (Delane) Lytle of Granada Hills, Calif., David Schweitz of Des Moines, Iowa, Susan Alexander of Dallas, Texas, Dallas (Suzanne) Schweitz of Fullerton and Kristine (William) Ryan of Lincoln; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brother; and three sisters.
